Nevada Head Start State Collaboration Project
Through statewide partnerships, the Nevada Head Start State
Collaboration Office enhances relationships, builds systems, and
promotes comprehensive quality services to meet the needs of young
children and their families. Funded through a five year grant from the
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for
Children and Families, Office of Head Start, 2007 is the second year of
Nevada’s five year grant cycle.
The Nevada Head Start State Collaboration Office is currently leading
planning efforts to build a comprehensive system of early childhood
services across the state, so all children can enter school ready to
learn.
National Institute for Early Education Research
The National Institute for Early Education Research supports early childhood education initiatives by providing objective, nonpartisan information based on research.
The goal of NIEER is to produce and communicate the knowledge base required to ensure that every American child can receive a good education at ages three and four. The Institute seeks to provide policy makers with timely information addressing the practical problems they face. The Institute offers independent research-based advice and technical assistance to four primary groups: policy makers, journalists, researchers, and educators.
The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)
The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is dedicated to improving the well-being of all young children, with particular focus on the quality of educational and developmental services for all children from birth through age 8. Founded in 1926, NAEYC is the world's largest organization working on behalf of young children with nearly 100,000 members, a national network of over 300 local, state, and regional Affiliates, and a growing global alliance of like-minded organizations.

Nevada's professional development registry for Early Childhood Education, including the ECE Career Ladder and data base of training available throughout the state.

This job board is sponsored by the Nevada Registry and is a free service to the ECE community in Nevada. Individuals looking for employment in ECE can see a variety of jobs posted here. Prospective employers may post available positions here as well.

The National Child Care Information Center (NCCIC)
A project of the Child Care Bureau, this is a national clearinghouse and technical assistance center that links parents, providers, policy-makers, researchers, and the public to early care and education information.

State Legislature - Provides information on past and current legislative sessions, contact information for legislators, the NRS and NAC, as well as information on the legislative process and history.

NV Women's Lobby
The Nevada Women's Lobby (NWL) is a statewide non-partisan coalition of organizations, women and men presenting a strong voice on issues affecting women and families. A primary issue of the NWL is education.

Nevada Early Intervention Services
Nevada's Bureau of Early Intervention Services identifies infants and toddlers who are at-risk for, or who have developmental delays; provide services and supports to families to meet the individualized developmental needs of their child; and facilitate the child's learning and participation in
family and community life through the partnerships of families, caregivers and service providers.
Northern Nevada Child Care Association
The Northern Nevada Child Care Association (NNCCA) is a non-profit organization that is comprised of licensed home child care providers in the Washoe County area. In the 20 years of its existence, the NNCCA strives to improve the quality of home child care. They can do this by providing professional support services and resources for members. All NNCCA providers are licensed by the Washoe County Department of Social Services, are CPR certified, and complete the required 15 hours per year of continuing education.
Afterschool Alliance
The Afterschool Alliance is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of afterschool programs and advocating for quality, affordable programs for all children. It is supported by a group of public, private and nonprofit organizations that share the Alliance's vision of ensuring that all children have access to afterschool programs by 2010.
Nevada's Core Knowledge Areas and Core Competencies for Early Childhood Professionals
Core Knowledge Areas (CKA) are a set of content areas that define what
caregivers should know and understand in order to provide quality
experiences for children, regardless of the setting in which care and
education occurs. Core Competencies are a set of observable skills that
reflect a caregiver’s knowledge and understanding of the Core Knowledge
Areas.
