T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood ® Nevada.
It is with warm support and appreciation that we wish Whitney Leathers the best on her next venture. Whitney, the Executive Director for NevAEYC and T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood Nevada, is moving on. Whitney has been a great leader in our programs, helping us to improve our outreach to professionals in Nevada. Her dedication, optimism, and tireless efforts are an example to us all. Good luck, Whitney!
T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood ® Nevada is a part of Nevada's early childhood educational development system and is designed to address the lack of early childhood specialization, inadequate compensation, high turn-over rate, and the lack of recognition for Early Childhood Educators in Nevada. T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood ® Nevada provides scholarships for home care providers, center teachers, directors, owners, and teacher aides working in a licensed facility at least 30* hours a week.
The scholarship provides 80% of tuition, 80% of books, a $50 stipend per semester for travel, and a $250 to $500 bonus. Scholarship recipients are also provided paid release time from work and a bonus or wage increase from their employer. The recipient of the scholarship commits to working for the sponsoring center following the completion of 9-15 college credits. T.E.A.C.H. Nevada scholarship recipients can attend Truckee Meadows Community College, The College of Southern Nevada, Western Nevada College, Great Basin College, the University of Nevada, Reno, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
